The Gregorian Singers

Auditions

The Gregorian Singers are now holding auditions for our 2019-20 season. We are looking for tenors and basses in particular, but all parts will be considered. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lake of the Isles, in Minneapolis. If you are interested in singing with us please contact Monte Mason at mmmasonbl@gmail.com.

Auditions and Singer Information

The Gregorian Singers maintains a core paid staff of twelve vocalists. A few excellent volunteer singers are added to this number. Because at least fifty percent of our repertoire consists of early music, we look for musical singers with clear and articulate voices, capable of floating a musical line. Singers should have knowledge and understanding of early and new music, a passion for same, and be well-versed in music theory and sight-singing. Currently we have openings for altos (including countertenors) and tenors, but we audition all interested and qualified singers.

Auditions last approximately 20 minutes and include five-note scales, tests for intervals, sight-reading, and tonal memory, as well as an appropriate solo of the singer’s choice. Please arrive ten minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete an audition form.

To schedule an audition contact founder-director Monte Mason at 612-823-1688 or email mmmasonbl@gmail.com
